Blueprint Coffee

Since 2013 · Mike Marquard

Overview

Blueprint opened on the Delmar Loop in University City in 2013, founded by Mike Marquard (formerly of Half & Half) and a group of veteran St. Louis baristas with deep roots at Kaldi's Coffee. The roastery runs on a Gothot — a cult German machine best known as the longtime workhorse of Chicago's Intelligentsia. Green buyer Cher Denny and head roaster Andrew Timko lead sourcing; baristas Kevin Reddy and Nora Brady have placed 3rd and 6th respectively at SCAA national competitions. The operation moved into an 11,000-square-foot consolidated headquarters in the Tiffany neighborhood in 2024 and now runs three coffee bars plus a wholesale program.

Why it matters

Blueprint occupies the role in St. Louis that Madcap or Olympia plays in their cities — the credible, technically rigorous roastery that anchors the region's specialty scene. Their connection to Kaldi's lineage means most of the city's serious coffee professionals have a relationship to the Blueprint team somewhere in their CV.
