Common Grounds Coffee Roastery

Since 2014 · Aston Utan, Daryanto Witarsa, Yoshua Tanu, Philip Chen

Overview

Common Grounds emerged in 2014 from the rebranding of Pandava Coffee — a December 2012 venture by three U.S.-educated friends Aston Utan, Daryanto Witarsa and Yoshua Tanu, joined by Philip Chen — and was the first Indonesian coffee shop to operate a Slayer espresso machine. Co-founder Yoshua Tanu won the Indonesian Barista Championship three times between 2014 and 2017, earning the brand the nickname 'House of Champions' and producing both a 2024 World Barista Champion and 2024-2025 World Brewers Cup medalists.
