Dimitri's Coffee

Since 2014 · Hisham (Dimitri's brothers)

Overview

Dimitri's Coffee was founded in Amman in 2014 by three brothers led by Hisham, who travelled through more than fifteen countries in Europe, Africa and East Asia studying cafe culture before opening Jordan's first specialty roastery. The original roaster was designed by one of the brothers and built by local engineers in Jordan, and the company now operates four Amman locations including Lweibdeh, Mecca Street and a flagship inside the five-billion-dollar Abdali development.

Known for

  • Founded 2014 by three brothers — Jordan's first specialty roaster
  • Custom roaster designed by one of the brothers and built by local engineers in Jordan
  • Four Amman locations: Lweibdeh, Mecca Street, The Boulevard at Abdali, and a fourth site
  • Full alternative-brew menu including Chemex, V60, AeroPress, French Press and Nitro Cold Brew
  • Self-positioned slogan: 'Roasted with Pride; from Jordan to The World'

Why it matters

Jordan sits between two enormous coffee traditions — Italian espresso and Arabic qahwa — and Dimitri's is the operation that built a third-wave specialty layer on top of both, rather than importing it wholesale from Europe. A decade in, Dimitri's is widely described in regional coffee press as the face of specialty coffee in Jordan, and remains one of the few Middle Eastern roasters running on equipment its own founders engineered.
