Cafés El Magnífico is a third-generation family business in Barcelona's Born district founded as the Cafés El Magnífico
Nomad began in 2011 as a coffee cart Jordi Mestre ran in London street markets after years working in the city's third-wave bars. He won the Spanish National Barista Championship in 2012 and 2013, sold the cart, and moved home to Barcelona, opening Nomad Coffee Lab in 2014 — the first specialty coffee shop in the city. The roastery now ships to over 45 countries and operates Cal Nomad (production HQ in Poblenou) plus the Lab & Shop, Every Day, Petit Nomad, Frutas Selectas and a sister bakery called Pa de Kilo.
Nomad pioneered specialty coffee in Spain. Before 2014 the category essentially didn't exist in Barcelona; Mestre brought back the London third-wave playbook and seeded the wholesale market by training other shops, which is why Barcelona now has one of Europe's fastest-growing specialty scenes.
This roaster operates a café.
