Three Marks opened in Barcelona's Fort Pienc neighbourhood in 2018, founded by three friends who all share a variant of the same name — Marc Aguyé, Marco De Rebotti, and Marco Paccagnella. Aguyé and De Rebotti had previously worked together at Nomad Coffee; Paccagnella joined from an office above the Nomad shop where he'd been a regular. They split the business by strength: Aguyé manages stores, De Rebotti roasts and runs coffee, Paccagnella handles brand and marketing.
Three Marks represents the second wave of Barcelona specialty — operators who came out of Nomad's training pipeline and built something distinct. Their willingness to experiment with infusions and unconventional processing pushes the Barcelona scene past the imported-from-London aesthetic of the early 2010s.
